Maybe 2024 weighed you down so much because you never allowed yourself a break or you waited until it was too late to take a break from life. This year, let's try something different - prioritising timeouts before we burnout. The weekend is almost here & it is monthend too. We deserve a break for the month's worth of work we have done, even if it's just chilling at home but without doing anywork or thinking of work 🫶

SWIPE... @empoweredtravelzw 's first storage unit 😅... The first year of business is the hardest in my opinion because funds are spread too thin so you have to improvise with most things (It's only been a year though so maybe I'll feel differently at the end of the second year 😂)

One of the things we had to improvise on was storage space for stock. We had to use personal spaces which was quite complicated BUT today I'm excited to share that Empowered Travel ZW now has its own storage unit.

While planning out the year, do we also mark/block dates on the calendar where we are going to do the things we love & enjoy or we treat those things as afterthought extras?

I was talking to my husband last night about our nature-themed trips (because those are my treats that I can't miss in life & thank God his too). In the conversation I realised that even though it's something we prioritise & look forward to, we actually plan for everything else & then only fit them in, whenever it seems suitable.

The problem with that is if other life commitments come up, what you actually selfishly enjoy about life gets pushed aside & before you know it, it's end of year & you did not do what you love as much as you would have loved to.

May 2025 be the year we prioritise those things that get us excited & we make sure we push everything else around so that we have those moments & those days of actually fully enjoying life 😊🫶

This was my first "upscale" destination to visit ever in my life (accommodation pricing-wise) even though I don't remember a year that went by and I did not visit multiple game parks since becoming an adult. I have always valued the time I spend with Mother Nature over luxuries that I can not afford.... Is the experience different at a place like this compared to a budget place, YES! But is the joy, the fullfilment & soothing from Mother Nature the same, YES!

If you are someone who is discouraged by people around you from doing something you like because it does not look luxurious enough just know that they lack a lot in life. People who can afford have no time to look down on people who can not afford. They are busy running their business & taking time out to enjoy their hard earned money, not to look at other people.

Let's enjoy our lives in 2025 within our means especially when it comes to travel. Let's not allow other people to impose standards on us that we never signed up for.

One thing I learnt last year is the importance of not disqualifying myself because of present circumstances. It is important to pre-plan even if the "how" and the "when" are not clear yet because if one day stars align, it helps to know exactly how to take advantage of that.

About 4 years ago I came across the beautiful Nottingham Estate Resort's posts. I knew immediately that one day I would like to visit. At that time though there was no way we could have managed but I just went on to write it down in my google diary under "places to visit in southern Zimbabwe". I also did a full cost breakdown of fuel, accommodation, meals, activities, etc in google excel.

Fast forward to 4 years later, we had to go to Southern Zimbabwe for something & all of a sudden my dream to visit this absolutely stunning destination could be fulfilled. Had I not done the cost breakdown, even with this opportunity arising, I would have still disqualified ourselves because 4 years prior it was way out of our realm of possibilities.

I guess looking back at these pics & reminiscing on our trip made me appreciate that just because something feels like a far-fetched goal right now, it does not mean we have to permanently cancel it or permanently disqualify ourselves. Even if it takes years or decades, one day the stars will align & it is important that when they do we are ready to take advantage of that.

And Yes, Nottingham Estate turned out to be as amazing as I thought it would be plus more. Definitely worth a visit 😊

December is peak travel season for a reason. For one, it is the end of year so it does feel good to know that we survived another year. Secondly, the atmosphere is just right. We are able to meet & spend time with our loved ones whom we would not have seen in a long time. So it's all just merry ☺️...

However, December is also the time when crime towards travellers & road accidents are at their peak. Therefore when planning to travel this festive season, PLEASE let's prioritise Safety, Security & our Health. A Travel First Aid Kit is a need. A GPS Tracker on your vehicle can be very helpful & only always having a sober driver behind the wheel will save many lives and limbs.
